A Twilight Walk for Keven
I am organising a charity walk in memory of my husband Keven, on Saturday15th March 2025 at 3pm in Uppingham, Rutland. The aim is to bring family and friends of Keven together to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, by walking 5km or 10km. As I cannot make the London Twilight Walk I decided to plan my own nearer home. If every walking adult could kindly donate a minimum of £10, that would be great. Families and dogs welcome. Please contact me directly if you would like to join in as I will be setting up a private WhatsApp group with more info.. Keven loved walking these routes regularly before he was unwell and cycled some parts of them too. Our first and last trips together, plus many in between, were walking weeks, in particular in Cumbria and Scotland (the photo above was near Braemar, Scotland), so it seems fitting to do this charity walk.
In addition, I am walking 130km in March to recognise the 130 different types of brain tumours. Please do sponsor me.
Keven had Parkinson's Disease since 2019 but became very unwell after an out-ot-the-blue seizure in July 2023. He was finally diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour at the end of January 2024. By the time the amazing staff at Genesis Care in Oxford diagnosed it, it had already metastasized to his spine. He had a biopsy in London, as there was no point in removing the tumour. He then underwent some months of chemo but this was unfortunately unsuccessful. By the start of July 2024 he was no longer able to walk, due to spinal cord compression, and this amazing sportsman spent the final four months of his life in bed, unable to get out unless hoisted by the wonderful carers. Keven's battle with this most horrific of tumours came to the end on Saturday 2nd November 2024. He never once complained.
