Story
Hi everyone! I'm Hels! This time last year I was living a typical life as a 29-year-old.. I was busy envisioning my future, making holiday plans, focusing on my career and having fun! However, everything took an unexpected turn, as I faced a breast cancer diagnosis in June. A huge shock.
Whilst I still have a chunk of active treatment to go, hoping to be finished in summer 2024! I will then be determined to get fit to embark this challenge! I’ve become incredibly passionate about raising awareness of breast cancer and this November myself and my fellow breastie Hannah have the honour of joining the CoppaFeel charity 5 day trek in the Indian Himalayas!
My journey to date:
Diagnosis - June 2023
LICAP flap surgery - August 2023
Chemotherapy 💪🏽 (NOW - in the thick of it)
Radiotherapy and Endocrine therapy to come!
I am thrilled to be supporting CoppaFeel on their mission to stomp out late diagnosis of breast cancer, especially in young people. Their important work is spreading vital information and reminders to check your chests and to get to know your normal.
That's why I'm embarking on a physically demanding trek, where I will not only be trekking up to 9 hours a day through tricky terrain and camping (yes, I will camp) in the great outdoors with very basic facilities, but also bonding with others who have similar stories - all in the name of awareness. Early detection of breast cancer saved my life, and I am committed to shouting from the mountaintops about it.
I’d like to raise as much money as possible and would be truly grateful for any support that you can offer to this incredible organization. Your donations will not only help me reach my fundraising target but will go a long way in making a difference by raise awareness, funds, and hope for a brighter future!
Also Check out my team mate Hannah’s story, you can find the link to her fundraising page on our team page "Han&Hels Hike the Himalayas" and donate to her too. Every contribution helps us get closer to our goal. And if you'd like to follow our journey, you can do so on Instagram @_breastoffriends 🏔️🏔️
