OUTCOME - WE DID IT!
9 of us went on to the wall at midday, when fortunately it had stopped raining. Denise and Helen walked 5 circuits, I managed 6, and Ken 7, which he thought was about half a marathon.
We had one difficult encounter and lots of positive ones - smiles, thumbs up, comments, and a request to take our photo.
A big thank you to everyone who sponsored us, not least the anonymous donors who I've not been able to thank personally - just look at the fabulous amount you helped us raise for Amos Trust.
There are a couple of pics in the gallery to show we were there.
Original story:
On March 1st I, along with my husband Ken and friends Denise Kingsnorth and Helen Caine, will be walking the Chester city walls to raise funds for Amos Trust’s work in Palestine. We will walk 5 circuits (about 10 miles) which could take about 3 & a half hours, the time which some might take to run a marathon.
The annual Palestine marathon, which starts in Bethlehem, serves to highlight some of the injustices experienced by Palestinians and it too takes in a wall - the separation wall which restricts the free movement of Palestinians.
Our walk is part of a worldwide event where people will be walking, running and cycling to show solidarity with the people of Palestine, and raising money for emergency relief in Gaza and to help rebuild a Palestinian home that has been demolished by the Israeli authorities in the Occupied West Bank.
We would welcome sponsorship through this page, but whether you feel able to sponsor us or not, please join us from midday on Friday March 1 in thinking about the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
