Story

Hello everyone,

I am thrilled to be participating in the 41st Royal Sutton Fun Run, an 8.5 mile (13.7km) event taking place on June 2, 2024, to raise funds for the Heartlands Cystic Fibrosis Centre - Operation Renovation.

I have spent years of my life in hospital and prior to the introduction of modulators (Kaftrio/Kalydeco) I was very unwell indeed - needing home oxygen and having only 28% lung function during my last hospital admission.

By supporting this fundraiser, you will be contributing to the refurbishment of 'my' CF ward (26) that will directly benefit people who - like me - spend weeks there when they become unwell.

The ward has not been refurbished in over 20 years since its opening. There is not enough money to do this from NHS funding so we are fundraising to improve the rooms and cheer them up for those long (and pretty dull!) stays on the ward.

I kindly ask for your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal of £1,000. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and make the ward a better place to go and get better!

Over the next few days I will show you my journey from 28% lung function and oxygen to 66% lung function on modulators - with my story and photos from the ward. Please give what you can - every little helps.
