Story
In January 2024, I will join Team Willen climbing Kilimanjaro to reach the 5,895m summit - the roof of Africa - in memory of Bampi, while fundraising for Willen Hospice.
Willen Hospice holds a special place in my heart. Grandma Dorothy Jell had the vision of the need for a hospice in Milton Keynes, and Bampi's dedication to continue her vision helped to make Willen Hospice a reality.
A fantastic documentary was created to commemorate 40 years of caring in Milton Keynes, from when the Hospice first opened its doors. You can watch it here, to see why it means so much to the people of Milton Keynes > https://youtu.be/hRl9WOvGlvE , or read more about the story here > https://www.willen-hospice.org.uk/about-us/our-story/
My Kilimanjaro climb will take 7 days, following the Lemosho route, reaching the summit on day 6 (31st Jan 2024). The trek will be an extremely tough challenge, tackling distance and altitude.
You can find more detail of the trek here > https://www.kilimanjarochallenge.com/join-a-group/lemosho-route/route-itinerary/
Willen Hospice require over £11 every minute to continue providing care and support to those with life-limiting diagnoses, and their loved ones.
Any amount you can spare will support Willen Hospice, and keep my motivation up during the toughest parts of the training and trek.
Willen Hospice’s care touches thousands of local people every year.
We give comfort, ease pain and reduce anxiety for patients and their loved ones. Every pound given makes a difference - as it enables us to do more for more people across Milton Keynes when and where they need us. We receive less than a quarter of our funding from the NHS, which means the rest is donated or fundraised for by amazing local people. Which is why your support is so important and so appreciated – from everyone we help, thank you.
