Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Knepp White Stork Project are working to reintroduce White Storks to the Uk.

These birds, were once, native to the Uk, but due to habitat loss, we drained the wetlands, and over indulging, we hunted and ate them until they were no more, sadly, just over 600 years ago White Storks become no more in the uk.

In 2020, the first two wild breeding pairs successfully nested at Knepp Estate following reintroduction efforts.

This was the first time in 600 years that white storks had bred in Britain.

We are fundraising to enable the project to purchase a solar powered, satellite tracker, in the hope that we can follow their progress and journey, learning more about their behaviour, and hopefully record data that will support the project further.

We are incredibly lucky to have this incredible ecosystem on our doorstep, and feel privelaged to be learning more about rewilding, conservation, ecology, biodiversity all whilst being a small part in helping to heal our planet.

Our Best lessons are taught in nature.

Please, if you feel led to, we would appreciate any donations, however small.

Thank you for reading our story.

About the charity

The Knepp Wildland Foundation was founded to galvanise nature recovery across Sussex and beyond. We use evidence, knowledge and inspiration from the pioneering work of Knepp to support rewilding at scale, with a particular focus on communities, corridors and the next generation of rewilders.
