Story
My amazing sister, Emily, died on the 8th of August 2022 (aged just 8 years old) from a diffuse midline glioma, which is an incurable brain tumour. I miss her so much, she was the best sister I could ever wish for. Every year, since 2023, I am going to do an active April challenge in memory of Ems. I want to raise as much money as I can to help find a cure for brain tumours like Emily’s. In 2023, I won a national JustGiving award for Young Fundraiser of the Year. This has motivated me because I know that people are inspired by the things I have done and continue to do. And as I said in my speech at the awards ceremony “I hope I can continue to make Emily proud as I will be fundraising forever”. #bemoreemily
Active April 2023
In 2023, I raised over £25,000 in memory of Emily by swimming a mile, climbing England’s highest mountain and cycling home from Addenbrookes hospital (the journey she was never able to make).
Active April 2024
This year, I’ll be swimming an entire marathon in a 25m pool, a mile at a time. This means that I have to swim 64 lengths roughly everyday for 26 days! In total I will have completed 1,686 lengths by the end of the challenge! It is a marathon month in my family as my Mum and Dad are running the London Marathon and I am swimming one! With every stroke, I will be thinking of my sister, and raising money, so that other families get the hope that we did not.
