Story
In April this year I will be taking part in the Marathon Des Sables (MDS) in Morocco, a race that's been going for 38 years. I am hoping to raise funds for the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice which is the only specialist children's hospice serving Berkshire and surrounding counties.
Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is a charity that provides specialist care and vital support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families, across Berkshire and into surrounding counties.
The hospice currently supports over 165 children and their families, but they are committed to growing their service and reaching out to every child and their family that needs them. The hospice needs £2.8 million of funding each year, most of this comes from donations.
The MDS is a self-supporting, multiday race held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert. This year the total distance is 252km over 6 stages. If I complete the race I will be the oldest British finisher in the history of the event.
