Story

I am tackling the Bath Half Marathon this October to raise vital funds for the Brain Tumour Charity (The Lewis Moody Foundation).

In January this year my wonderful Dad (Scott) was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Oligodendroglioma. He has since had three major surgeries and received radiotherapy and is now receiving chemotherapy.

This horrible disease has affected our family so much, Dad is 45 and was an incredibly healthy man but in the space of days we went from celebrating a normal Christmas day together to not knowing if we were going to be able to speak to him again. He spent most of January-April in hospital including multiple days with his life in the hands of the incredible team at King's College Hospital. This was a terrifying experience for not only my Dad but also myself, my younger three siblings, my mum and other close family which we feel no one should have to go through. This is why I am raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity in order to help reach earlier diagnoses and find a cure for this disease- so, hopefully one day, no one will have to go through this.

Those that know my dad will know how much of a selfless, family man he is and he'd do anything for any of us. He has been such a pivotal figure in my life so far ranging from Saturday afternoons spent together at Loftus Road to our 'lads trips' to Marbs. He's given me so much. So, although this isn't much in the grand scheme of things, I'd love to give back by running this half marathon for him, which may be a bit of a challenge as I've had a long bumpy ride recovering from an ACL rupture! But I will get it done by hook or by crook!

He is incredibly brave and strong and I am so proud of how he is handling everything and continues to fight this battle.

The Brain Tumour Charity only receives 1% of Cancer Research funding and is the biggest killer in children and adults under the age of 40. I am determined to help change that. Any donation, no matter the size, is a step in the right direction, I appreciate all the support.

#TeamScott

The Lewis Moody Foundation is dedicated to working in partnership with The Brain Tumour Charity to fund special Family Days which give children and their families the opportunity to make magical memories together. These events take the families out of their all too difficult routines, to create moments full of joy and excitement.

With your support the foundation can help raise awareness of brain tumours through life saving awareness campaigns that aim to drive down diagnosis times. Earlier diagnosis can save lives. The Lewis Moody Foundation funds pioneering research to change the lives of those affected. Pushing forward new treatments options, helping to improve the survival rates for those with a brain tumour.
