Story
Since late January this year I have been part of The Archer Project's Engagement team, as both a placement student and volunteer. Throughout this time I have seen various issues regarding homelessness that go way beyond the trauma of rough sleeping. From the instability of temporary accommodations to the stressful experiences of making the transition to securing and maintaining a new home. Even how homelessness is particularly harmful for certain groups, such as refugees and women. Unfortunately, homelessness in Sheffield is an engraved social issue with many serious complexities.
Therefore, in line with my purpose to support society's most vulnerable groups in overcoming their hardships and empowering them to reach their full potential, I am running the Sheffield 10k on the 29th of September to support the funding of The Archer Project's crucial services. As a project we attend to homeless individuals' basic needs through food, clothes, laundry and showers services, whilst also offering one-to-one support, volunteering opportunities and activities groups to give service users routine, guidance and a sense of belonging.
Any donations would be very much appreciated!
Thanks - Harry :)
