Story
I'm running the Cork City Marathon in honour and memory of my dear friend Sam Browne.
Sam was diagnosed with an inoperable grade 2 astrocytoma after suffering a seizure in March 2019. He underwent a biopsy followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy but, in July 2023, he learned his tumour had developed to a grade 4. He died less than two months later, aged 28.
Sam lived his life to the full. He was a real people person and the life and soul everywhere he went.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!
I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
