Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and donating.

Through running the Oxford Half Marathon 2024, I hope to raise crucial funds for The Get A-Head Charitable Trust. This is an amazing charity who do great work to support those suffering from head and neck cancers.

All funds raised will go into helping the charity to fund research into the causes and treatment of head and neck cancers, help to buy specialised equipment which is not available through the NHS, and be able to provide continued education for healthcare professionals and various other treatments to improve the lives of patients.

As a family, we have experienced first hand the amazing work which this charity does. Before I was born, my father was diagnosed with a rare form of Thyroid cancer and subsequently had his Thyroid removed. As there was a possibility that the cancerous gene may have been passed down, my sister and I also had our Thyroids surgically removed. My father’s identical twin brother and his children also all had their Thyroids removed for the same reason.

As a result of this, we have been the beneficiaries of the life saving treatment which has been made possible through research funded by The Get A-Head Charitable Trust.

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of The Get A-Head Charitable Trust and to date the charity has raised over £10 million. Please visit their website here https://getahead.org.uk to find out more information.

Thank you for your support.
