The Challenge:

In September 2025 I am heading to Nepal to embark on a trek to Everest Base Camp. I am going with a group from Nottingham University with the support of ‘Choose a Challenge’. The trek is spread out over 12 days starting in Lukla, reaching Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,364m (17,598 feet), before heading back to Lukla. Over the course of the trek I will walk around 130km through the Nepalese Himalayas, over very challenging terrain. Temperatures will start off at around 20 degrees celsius at the beginning of the trek but significantly drop to below freezing at night time nearer base camp. We will be staying in the famous teahouses along the way and accompanied by the incredible sherpas and local guides.

The Charity:

I am raising money for Meningitis Research Foundation. Meningitis is a disease which affects around 2.3 million people every year. 1 in 10 people affected sadly die and 2 in 10 people are left with permanent after-effects. Small children and young adults are at high risk, although anyone can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die a day from meningitis. Meningitis Research Foundation is at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. They aim to defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030. The money raised goes towards investing in research, campagins for vaccines and providing support and information to those already affected.
