Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Mount Snowdon is 1,085m tall and it takes between 4 – 7 hours. It is the highest mountain in Wales and has two names: Mount Snowdon and Snow Hill. It was first climbed in 1639 by Thomas Johnson. It has 6 main paths up – the names of the six paths are: Llanberis Path, Miners' Track, Pyg Track, Watkin Path. Rhyd Ddu Path and Snowdon Ranger. I am climbed up the Pyg Track and came down the Llanberis Path. I found out the day before that I had fractured my foot, but we went for it anyway and despite the 60mph winds, I made it to the top.
I was climbing Mount Snowdon to raise money for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
The Foundation is committed to helping improve the lives of those affected by Motor Neuron Disease. It helps to fund grants, giving considerable sums to the MND Association and MND Scotland to administer to individuals and families living with MND.
MND is a disease which affects the motor neurons of the nervous system. It is life shortening and mostly progresses rapidly.
Doddie OBE was one of rugby’s most recognisable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career, represented the British and Irish Lions on their successful tour to South Africa in 1997, and won championships with his two club sides, Melrose and Newcastle Falcons.
The 5 in ‘My Name’5 Doddie’ represents the number he played with on his back.
I love playing rugby and with head injuries being a major concern I want to raise money for My Name’5 Doddie to contribute to finding a cure and raise awareness of the disease.
