Harley Grosvenor is raising money for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Charity
Story
1000 miles in 24 hours for Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.
Myself and 4 others taking on the SS1000 in other words SaddleSore 1000. My aim is to ride 1000 miles in under 24 hours whilst fundraising for my local air ambulance.
It will be tracked on google maps and updates will be made as to the progress of the ride.
I've always wanted to be a member of the IBA (Iron Butt Association) and I believe this is the best way of becoming certified while raising life saving money and being able to ride past some beautiful sights of the UK (not that I will see much at night), Now I've always been and will always be an avid motorcycle rider but knowing the furthest ive ridden in a day is a mere 250 miles. This is going to be a massive challenge for me.
The air ambulance is an important part of emergency care in the UK as it can mean the difference between life and death especially to those involved in motorcycle accidents. So I want to do my best to fundraise as much as possible for my local air ambulance division. Since they are a charitable organisation they rely on finicial aid and donations to be able to do what they do and save lives. They require 10 million pounds a year to operate.
Taken from their website - "Our team of doctors and paramedics carry life-saving equipment on board the helicopter and critical care cars which means they take an emergency department directly to the scene of some of the most serious incidents in Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire. Our crews work closely with the ambulance service, first responders, Police, Fire & Rescue and other emergency services such as HM Coastguard."
