We Raise funds for children & young people to provide Play provisions in Haringey

Story

We made it! 20yrs and going strong...

The children and young people have been asking for activities like building more play structures, soap making, tie-dye, woodcraft, and more.

And to go on trips, like a day-out to the seaside, forests, restaurants, cinema, theatre, theme parks, climbing, archery, kayaking, a residential... oh yes, and Disneyland - well, some things might not be possible, but we said we'll do what we can.

With your help, we will take the children & young people on as many trips as possible and offer memorable experiences

Most the families we work with have been hard hit with the cost-of-living crisis. Many families are living on survival mode. Imagine if we can offer children and young people a chance to smile & make good memories during these tough times. Priceless. A day out or a memorable experiences should never have been considered a luxury.

Haringey Play Association (HarPA) was set up in 2003. HarPA built Somerford Grove Adventure Playground in 2005 and has worked with thousands of children and young people over the years. HarPA also provides pop-up play provisions on housing estates, currently in The Sandlings, Wood Green and Suffolk Road, South Tottenham.

Our Playwork approach offers children and young people a space where they choose what they want to do with minimal adult intervention. It is a Playworkers role to facilitate this space. Children and young people are continually involved in designing and building Somerford Grove Adventure Playground.

Nowadays, more children and young people are spending more time on "screen-time" - we will support, encourage and facilitate play and play spaces assuring to free-of-charge play provisions accessible to all.

Our Playwork approach also supports risk taking in play, so vital for children’s development. They can face their fears, problem solve, figure out their limits and how to keep themselves safe and become resilient and empowered. Our play spaces and structure offer this opportunity.
