We are doing 70 for 70: completing 70 walks of at least 7km each in 2024 in memory of Tony, who would have turned 70 in April this year.

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.

Story

The Lewy Body Society was founded in 2006 to support research into Lewy body dementia and to raise awareness of the disease. We aim to educate the public, the medical professions and those in decision-making positions about the disease, which unfortunately is still not well known.

Tony, Ian's Dad and Danny and Alice's Grandad sadly died at the start of the year after being diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. In 2024, the year that he would have turned 70, we are going to get out and do 70 walks of 7km or more to celebrate his decade year.

We had never heard of Lewy body dementia before Tony's diagnosis, and we are hoping to raise funds and awareness of the work that The Lewy Body Society do.
