This year we’re stepping out of our comfort zone and into -30degree temperatures, just shy of the Arctic Circle!
We will have no access to electricity or running water and after attempting to acclimatise to the cold, we will move into the survival phase of this challenge. This will involve chopping down branches and constructing a shelter to inhabit, whilst also digging a snow hole to sleep in on the final night. The temperatures will be extremely low and the elements brutal, and with three nights sleeping outside, Hannah is fully expecting to have no toes left on either foot on her return.
We’re doing this to raise funds for the Robotic Surgery Appeal at UHCW Charity. Robotic Surgery can improve cancer outcomes, decrease recovery time and have patients back to their everyday life much sooner than after traditional surgery. We’re fundraising for another robotic system at UHCW, so that more patients can be treated quickly and efficiently, with less post-operative pain and complications.
