This will be my 5TH YEAR sleeping out on the street for the Glass Door Homeless Charity. Having been a homeless single mum in 2017, it is MY turn to give back.

I want to raise £1,500 for the charity but also awareness that homelessness is worse than ever before.

Together, we can to provide shelter and support to someone who has no where else to turn.

£23 could provide two personalised advice session with a caseworker.

£33 could provide someone with safe shelter, a hot evening meal and breakfast for one night.

£115 could provide ten new guests with an initial advice session from our caseworkers at one of our partner daytime centres.

How do you escape the cold when you’ve nowhere to go?

How do you live inside, when out is all you know?

Who in the world, can you truly call a friend

When you’ve made it on the streets alone right to the bitter end?

Cardboard sheets, piss in a bucket, dog ends, plastic bed

Is this really as good as it gets before I am dead?

Their faces as they look at us in the gutter

Say the words that they mutter

As they pass us by, little do they know how long I cry

To get myself to sleep both day and night.

Used to have a home, a job, a family

Now it’s all gone, now it’s just me

Out in the cold, starting to freeze

Wishing I could just say “Help me, please.”

Someone comes along with a cup of tea

A hot meal, a smile , just for me

Showing some love and humanity.

I just hope I’m not out here when I’m old

I don’t want to die alone in the cold
