Story
On the 4th of July 2024, we sadly lost our wonderful Nan, Margaret Shanahan who is now at peace with our Grandad Bill.
Our Nan was truly one of a kind – always ready with her lively stories about raising six amazing children and doting on her ten grandchildren. Her home was a warm and welcoming place, where there was always room for anyone who stopped by, a cup of tea in hand, and plenty of biscuits to share and of course, her famous roasts!
In her later years, dementia took away many memories that she had treasured, but it could never take away the love and joy she brought into our lives. To honor her memory and to support others living with this heartbreaking condition, I’ll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of Dementia UK.
Dementia UK provides invaluable care and support for families affected by dementia, offering specialist nurses and advice to those who need it most. By donating, you’ll be helping them continue their incredible work and make a real difference to people’s lives.
Every step I take in this race will be for my Nan, and every pound you donate will go towards giving families the support they need in the face of this challenging condition. No matter how big or small, your donation will mean the world to me and my family.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
