Story

Hi, I’m Hannah and I’ll be taking part in the 100km Lake District Ultra Challenge from the 8th to the 9th of June to raise money for my Niece, Effie who has Triplegic Cerebral Palsy.

Over the course of 24 hours, I'll be walking from Kendal, through Windemere, Ambleside and Longsleddale, before heading back to the finishing point in Kendal. You can take a look at the challenge below.

About Effie.

Effie is an incredibly bright, loving, funny and resilient little girl with an immense amount of determination, love of learning, and drive for independence.

Effie is diagnosed with Triplegic Cerebral Palsy, affecting her lower limbs and upper left limb, and ultimately her mobility. Effie strongly relies on various equipment, to enable her to get around and enjoy all the things any other 5-year-old would. Despite her disability, Effie is continually making strides in all aspects of her development and is progressing all the time through daily physio and numerous other therapies

I will be helping fundraise in the hope to attain an INNOWALK. An Innowalk will allow Effie to exercise daily, feel the motion of walking, and build up her muscles and strength to aid in her dream of independence, along with the multitude of other health benefits that come from keeping the body moving in an upright position.

We want to do all we can to help raise the funds to purchase this equipment as we all know how capable she is, and how much she can achieve. If we’re successful, this equipment would grow with her into and throughout adulthood!

Unfortunately the Innowalk is extremely expensive, upwards of £33,000.00. Which is why we are asking for your help, in donations, in sharing our page, and in joining our fundraising campaign.

Summer ‘23 Effie completed a two week loan of the Innowalk and managed 28miles in those two weeks! The difference it made to Effie’s strength and hyperextension at her knees in that short amount of time was outstanding!
