Story
Hi everyone, my name is Hannah MacCann. As some of you know, I recently had surgery to reconstruct a torn ACL in my right knee. Before this, I was exploring New Zealand, climbing mountains and jumping off them too!
I knew I wanted to set myself a goal in my rehab journey, to not only motivate myself to get better, but to get in the best shape possible, with the help of The Roche Injury Clinic in Kilkenny.
As luck would have it, I came across Choose A Challenge, an adventure travel company who has raised over 23 million pounds for charity since its creation.
Choose A Challenge is partnering with The Meningitis Research Foundation and The University of Limerick, where I currently study Business with Marketing and Management.
To raise money for MRF, A group of students and I will be taking on the challenge of summiting the tallest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro.
Not only is it the tallest mountain in Africa but it is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world! We will be embarking on this expedition in the third week in August of 2024, exactly one year on from my Knee surgery!
The importance of this challenge is the cause that we are supporting. We will be raising money for the Meningitis Research Foundation, a charity that funds vital research, advocates for political change and provides on-demand support for families and individuals who suffer from the results of meningitis and septicaemia.
I will be aiming to raise 5,895 euro, that is one euro for every metre of Kilimanjaro. Attached is my donation link and I really hope you are interested in supporting me on this charity expedition.
We are at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. Our intrepid volunteers are taking on this incredible challenge and raising money to help us defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030.
