Meningitis Now is a charity very close to my heart.

As most people know, I had meningitis at the age of 5 and needed to have a VP shunt fitted which I will rely on for the rest of my life. As a result of this, I unfortunately have to live with headaches every day.

I've had several operations over the last 2 and a half years due to having issues with my shunt and have therefore spent a large amount of time in and out of hospital. This has affected me both, physically and emotionally, and has resulted in me having to have a large amount of time off sick from work.

This year's Great North Run is going to be a huge challenge for me but I am determined not to let the pain stop me from running across that finish line!
