Sparsholt Walk for Widge, 27 April 2024
In memory of Olivia 'Widge' Merritt
We are raising funds for Winchester Hospice to support the outstanding care provided.

Story

Myself and my two boys (9 and 12) will be walking 24km with friends and family in memory of our dear friend who sadly died on the 14th February.

Olivia (also known fondly as 'Widge') and mum to three children sadly died from breast cancer. She was a shining light in our school community and was always there to help in any way that she could - volunteering as class rep, cooking sausages, packing prizes, manning welly wanging stalls and was the brains behind the Ham Green light trail that's now become an annual Christmas feature.

One activity she particularly enjoyed was a fundraising trek for the school in the Brecon Beacons. So on the 27th April members of the school community, including children, will be walking 24km of the Clarenden way in her memory to raise money for the Hospice which cared for her so compassionately over her last months and continues to support her family and friends.

Winchester Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care to adults with life-limiting illness living in Winchester and the surrounding villages. It is a place of compassion, understanding, warmth and support at the most difficult time – a place where skilled staff are caring not only for patients, but their families, friends, carers and children too.

With your support, we can help to ensure that Winchester Hospice is there for the people of Winchester both now and for years to come.

Thank you!
