Story
In April I will be running the Brighton Marathon to fundraise for Motor Neurone Disease. In August last year, my Dad got diagnosed with this horrific disease and as a family our whole world was turned upside down. At present, Dad has very limited use of his arms which makes him unable to do very much independently now. It has been so heartbreaking to watch him have to give up so many of the things he loves to do including playing golf, squash, his love of cars and more recently driving. He has had so much of his independence taken away, and it’s affected his life in so many ways. The thing that upsets him the most is how he struggles to play with and cuddle his four beautiful Grandchildren who are his whole world. He is the biggest family man you will ever meet.
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
My Dad is the kindest, most giving and selfless person I have ever met. I know that everyone is biased about their parents, but my Dad is the most wonderful man. He puts everybody before himself and nothing is ever too much trouble for him. Everybody who has the pleasure to meet him or to have them in their life adores him. He has this Aura about him where when you’re around him he makes the world feel like a better place.
He has done SO much for me in life. I feel so helpless but hopefully with your help I can fundraise and contribute towards finding a cure to this horrific and cruel disease.
My dad is my hero.
Please help him and others suffering
