Story
Running a half marathon might not be a big deal for some but for me it will be a real challenge. I’m more of a team sports girl, and running solo isn’t my thing- I get bored easily!! But I’m running for a fantastic cause: Bowel Cancer UK.
In 2019, my mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Luckily, thanks to my Grandpa having similar symptoms with rectum cancer, she knew to see a doctor. If she hadn’t, it might have been too late for surgery. Bowel Cancer UK is an amazing charity that educate people and campaigns for early diagnosis and treatment. They work hard to raise awareness and support those affected, making sure more people catch this disease early and have a fighting chance, just like my mum did.
My mum’s recovery has been incredible. After a major operation and chemotherapy during the lonely times of Covid, she’s now in remission and thriving. We often forget she ever battled such a horrible illness because she’s doing so well now!
Even though this half marathon is a small distance compared to some, I want to raise as much money as possible for an amazing charity. Every little helps, and I’m so grateful for any donation, big or small. Thank you so much for your support!
