Story
Hi, my name is Sophia, I am 9 years old.
I am embarking on a special journey, in hope to bring some sparkle and joy into the lives of those in need. This cause is very close to my heart because of my wonderful Great Nan.
I am participating in The Chester Sparkle Walk to raise money for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd. This is a sparkly, glittery and neon filled 5km walk around Chester city centre at 10pm on the 20th September 2024, lighting up the streets to support the hospice which holds a special place in mine and my family’s hearts.
I will be doing this with my mum, nan, aunties and uncles for my Great Nan who is currently in their care. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago, and 10 months ago her cancer has come back, which has now spread to her spine, brain, liver and kidneys. My Nan is so special, and I would love to do this for her.
The Hospice of the Good Shepherd is an amazing charity that has gone above and beyond to care of my nan in this difficult time. But not just for my nan, but for the incredible work they do in providing care and comfort to every single person who steps foot through their hospice doors in the toughest times of their lives. Raising this money will ensure that they can continue their vital work.
Each step I take will be for my nan and all the patients who have and will benefit from the hospice’s care. All money raised, little or large would go a long way to support the charities needs in providing the same excellent care to other people with life-limiting illnesses like my nan.
I hope to make the world a little more sparkly.
Thank you
Sophia
