Story

Cllr Handel Davies, member for the Llandovery Ward and Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council has chosen LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity and Prostrate Cymru as his charities during his term of office.

In addition to his duties as Chair of the County Council during 2024/25, Cllr Davies is also raising money and awareness for two charities which are close to his heart.

LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity supports children and their families receiving treatment for cancer and leukaemia at the Children’s Hospice for Wales.

LATCH was established forty years ago in 1983 by a group of families and friends who recognised that children diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia and their families not only needed medical support but also practical, emotional and financial support to ease the burden they face.

The charity supports hundreds of children, young people and their families across Wales every year who are being treated at the Paediatric Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital for Wales.
