On Sunday 8th October I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Bookmark. Bookmark is a charity that wants every child to be able to read so that they have the chance to achieve their potential in life.

Before the pandemic, more than one in four children left primary school unable to read well. Now, disadvantaged children are leaving school an entire year behind their non-disadvantaged peers. Poor literacy can have a devastating impact on a child's life. They're more likely to be unemployed, live in poverty, have poor health and health behaviours, and lower life expectancy as a result.

Bookmark is determined to ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop the reading skills, confidence and enjoyment of reading that they need for a fair chance in life.
