Story
On August 24-25th I am going to be running consecutive ultra marathons in aid of Parkinson’s UK.
On 24th February 2020, my good pal Ben Gee was diagnosed with Parkinsons, a day that would change his life forever. Please watch this video to hear Bens story.
Ben has been a wonderful friend, an amazing mentor and a true inspiration not only to me but to everyone who knows him. The way he has taken this life challenge on is remarkable. What he is doing with his company Hat & Home in the face of adversity is pretty unbelievable, and he is making it his life goal to raise money to find a cure for Parkinsons. The man is an absolute machine and someone that I truly look up to.
There is currently no cure for Parkinsons, but whatever I can do to contribute to this cause I want to do it. Putting my legs through a couple of days of pain is nothing compared to the life long struggle that Parkinson’s sufferers have to cope with, so lets do this!!!
The Challenge-
I met Ben when he gave me my first job in agency at Marsh & Parsons. He had just set up an office in Bishops Park and took me under his wing. He went on to achieve great things at M&P but when he got diagnosed with Parkinsons he decided to set up his own company, Hat & Home to provide a legacy for his family and boy is he succeeding.
The run will be over 2 days and almost 110km in total.
Day 1- 32 miles (52km) - Bishops Park Marsh & Parsons to Hat & Home, Wokingham
Day 2- 32 miles (52km) - Hat & Home, Bracknell to the Parkinsons HQ, Pimlico
Everyone has been telling me to just do a marathon but I want to raise a lot of money to make a difference, and to do that I need to really challenge myself.
The aim is to raise £10,000. This is such an amazing cause and anything you can spare will make a huge difference.
Thank you!
