Story

Thank you for dropping by my page! With only 4 weeks to go, I’ve taken up a spontaneous challenge to run the London Marathon on the 21 April with the fantastic Team Brathay, who I'm very excited to be raising money for.

To contribute to this cause, to spur on my silly spontaneity, or just for 2 minutes of light reading about the team and this challenge: please see my story and support in any way you can.

Brathay is a remarkable charity, close both to my heart & to the heart of the Lake District, dedicated to transforming the lives of young people across the UK through a diverse range of programs: outdoor pursuits, educational courses, or personal development and mentoring. These programs - with your support - empower young people by providing them with opportunities for personal growth, helping them to overcome obstacles, unlock potential, build employability, and become positive contributors to society.

The impact that structured mentoring and development can have on kids is clear to see. Every donation is an investment in the future generation.

I was lucky to get to know the Brathay team and their work many years ago, when I was cheering on my Dad as he braved Brathay’s 10 marathons in 10 days challenge. He's set the bar pretty high for how far (422km..!) he’s willing to go for this cause. Now, for the first time, I'll be running the marathon whilst he supports on the sidelines. I just hope he's not expecting me to run another 9 in the following 9 days…

With a lot to live up to, with your help, and with a great cause to get running, I’m using this opportunity with Team Brathay to launch into a PB year attempt on all standard running distances (5km, 10km, 21km, 42km). First on the list is the London Marathon with a target time of 3 hours 15 min. Followed by two weeks recovery.

But this isn't just about running the race; anything you can spare will make a really positive impact in the lives of young people and help bring us closer to our fundraising goal. And for me, every contribution you make will give me something to push me through and keep me motivated during those very painful miles at the end of the marathon. I’ll need it.

See you at the start line! (Or rather the finish line, hopefully…)
