Hannah and Darryl's London Marathon 2025 for the Mental Health Foundation

Hannah and Darryl are running the London Marathon on April 27th 2025. We are running in the memory of Hannah's partner and Darryl's friend - Edward. Ed took his own life in January 2020 and we are running to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
Ed loved parkrun, and neither of us would have started running without his encouragement. The parkrun 'cult' among his friends has been a way we've been able to still feel close to him since his death. Stats for the parkrun nerds out there - Hannah is on 212 parkruns at 107 locations and is an alphabeteer, and Darryl is on 144 parkruns at 75 locations - fast catching up with his 50 parkruns in a calendar year in 2024! Our most cherished parkrun memory is running a special extra event last May in Norway, Edward's native country.
Ed never got to run a marathon - although he was very proud of his Kingston half marathon he ran with zero training in 2019 when another friend had to drop out last minute! Running our first marathons in London, Ed's home of nine years, is particularly special to us. Training has begun in earnest, and we've got the additional milestone of a Half Marathon at Hampton Court on 23rd March to work towards, which would have been Ed's 33rd birthday.
The Mental Health Foundation is the UK's charity for everyone's mental health. With prevention at the heart of what they do, the Mental Health Foundation aims to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive.
