Story
24 marathons and four Everests of elevation? For Mum I can do anything, let’s go!
Back in 2013 my lovely Mum Ali took her own life after struggling with her mental health. November 2023 marks 10 years since Mum passed away, a very significant anniversary for me, my family, and everybody who knew and loved her.
I’ve been building up to this challenge over the past few years and everything has fallen into place for me to commit a month of my time this October to complete the Coast Path in memory of my beautiful Mum. I’ve got lots of memories dotted along this path and it feels like home to me which is perfect for this challenge. It’s going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but with the support of my family and friends as well as the strong spirit of Mum, I have no doubts whether I’ll succeed.
Since Mum passed away, myself and my community have suffered many more losses, particularly those of young people. I have chosen to support Papyrus with this challenge in the hope that we can save lives through funding Papyrus’ incredible work.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.
Every £5 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
