We help vulnerable children from Andover to improve their chances in life

Story

If your reading this it is because you have liked my FB page and have expressed interest in helping me to fundraise for the amazing Andover based kids charity I volunteer for...#KidsonTrack (see video at bottom of this post...to see why i volunteer and where your help will contribute to).

In a little over a week I am being whisked away by the amazing #VenariPartners who selected myself and 6 other very lucky applicants, who have all had our own personal 'journey' through mental health, illness or other unfortunate life curveballs.....for an all expenses trip to hike the Jordan Trail finishing in Petra.

For those of you who may not be fully aware I have had a 4+ year journey experiencing mental health issues, depression & anxiety. For those of you who really know me know that my two boys are my world and unfortunately the world we live in is not always fair and can throw some upsetting events our way. I therefore wish for them to have the best life possible and wish the same on others.

I therefore chose to volunteer first with The Wave Project....allowing inner city London kids to gain a smile through Surf Therapy, I assisted with Access Adventures helping those with disabilities to Waterski and since Aug 2022 have volunteered at Kids On Track.

This amazing charity bring's together local volunteers to assist with a 3 year program for approx 60 Andover children....many of these children come from households with very low income, some have been unfortunate to experience bereavement in the immediate family, some may be helping parents with disabilities amd some have been exposed to or a victim of domestic abuse.

Key point: Every penny 💰 we raise for our selected charities will go directly to the chosen charities. No catch or expenses like on many of these trips....every penny will go to give 60+ kids in Andover, Hampshire that little extra better start to life. For those who were not aware I have been volunteering at KoT since Aug 2022 on Summer camps, half term camps, Xmas trips and Easter camps as well as choosing to mentor a brilliant graduate of the scheme from age 13 to age 17. All the kids have fantastic souls and would be eternally grateful of any support.

My aim is to raise £1,000 as quick as I can.....both in advance of the trip (departing 14 Oct)....during my trip....and on my return.

Kids on Track exists to provide an enrichment programme for children from disadvantaged areas of Andover, that will help develop a positive mind-set and build confidence, so that these children can achieve their full potential. Kids on Track works with local schools and social services to identify children that could benefit from additional support. We currently have 48 children attending activity camps during the school holidays. Activities regularly include sport, arts and craft, cooking, music and drama, together with specialist events such as street dance, circus skills and woodland den building. The aims of the camps are: To provide an opportunity for children to have fun during holidays To broaden experience To develop confidence To develop social and emotional skills such as teamwork/ co-operation In addition, we run after school activity clubs at local secondary schools for the Kids on Track children currently attending those schools. The activity clubs fulfil a similar and supplementary role to the camps, providing a little extra interaction and development of a key life-skills eg cooking and nutrition.
