Story
This May the 4th, I invite you to support me on a journey not to a galaxy far, far away, but around the landscapes of Sheffield as I embark on a 60-mile ultra-marathon. This endeavour is more than a test of endurance; it's a tribute to my late mum, a true Force in my life, who passed away recently at the age of 80. Her final moments were spent in the compassionate care of St Luke's Hospice, a sanctuary that provided solace and peace to our family during the hardest of times.
My mum's story is one of resilience, hope, and unwavering love—qualities embodied by the heroes of Star Wars. The ultra-marathon route is rich with personal landmarks, including her village and the village hall where we celebrated her 80th birthday. It's a path of memories, a personal "Hero's Journey," in honour of the incredible woman who inspired me to be brave and kind and believe that there is light even in the darkest times.
St Luke's Hospice is our Tatooine, no not a hive of scum and villainy, but, like the Lars Homestead, home of Luke Skywalker, a place of warmth and light in the desert of our hardest journey. They stand as guardians and healers, but their mission relies on the community's generosity and allies coming together to support those in their most vulnerable moments.
So, I'm calling on you, the rebels, the Jedi, the guardians of hope and compassion, to join me in this cause. By supporting my run, you're backing me and aiding St Luke's Hospice in its mission to provide care and comfort to families facing the loss of their loved ones. Let's make this Star Wars Day a beacon of hope, a testament to the love and strength that my mum taught me.
"Help me, St Luke's Supporters. You're my only hope." Your donation can light up the darkness, offering comfort and care to those in need. Let's ensure that the Force of kindness and generosity shines brighter than ever at St Luke's Hospice.
Thank you for being so supportive, and May the Fourth Be With You!
