Our amazing children's transplant team, the Evelina London VIPs, are taking part in the national British Transplant Games in July 2023. Not only are the team Very Important People but also Very Important Penguins named after our Penguin outpatients clinic.

The games are annual highlight for our children with transplants and their families. The incredible event marks a return to fitness for so many children and provides important peer and family support, all while highlighting the importance of organ donation. This year the team will head to Coventry to compete in multiple sports including Swimming, Track & Field, Cycling and Racquet sports.

Sadly a transplant is not a cure, but a lifelong treatment, and our VIPs will be attending hospital regularly for their entire lives! We want each child to be supported and encouraged to reach their potential, particularly after overcoming obstacles such as long term illness, multiple hospital admissions and operations. The Transplant Games helps our team toward this goal.

We have 2 events happening in the next two months!

On Saturday 1st July our 3rd annual Evelina London to Southampton cycle- will take place - our team of intrepid cyclists, made up of families and staff (from both Evelina London and Southampton Children's Hospital) will challenge themselves to cycle 40, 70 or 100 miles. They are following the journey made by many families from the Southampton region whose transplant surgery happens at Evelina London.

On Saturday 29th July, our entire VIP team, their families and our staff volunteers will take part in the Organ Donor Run. This means around 160 of us will don our colourful Evelina London gear to both raise awareness (and to say thanks) for organ donors and donation and raise some much needed funds for our annual expedition to the Transplant Games - a highlight of our year!

Your donations will be allocated to the Paediatric Transplant Fund at Evelina London Childrens Charity, and so directly supporting the Evelina London VIPs.
