Story
I am truly honoured that through love, support guidance and reassurance, I continue to accept with great dignity that Mental Health was to be part of my life and it is a privilege that I can be open and honest on how life can change before your eye and is now 8 years since that night I was pulled from the river Clyde.
As a family, work, friends and social network the last few years have been the most educational experience on how no one is immune and learning together on how to deal with this, regain trust, cope on a bad day and just be honest with yourself are all just some of the challenges.
Despite someone spotting me jumping off the bridge and bringing me out of the water we know that not everyone has this opportunity and through our passion, we can support breaking down the stigma of mental health.
The Urquhart family continue to be most grateful their chance in life was met with great opportunity to raise awareness and be open with each other and we are delighted and excited to have the opportunity to welcome everyone to the 6th Urquhart Ball on 27th January 2024 for another fantastic night.
Over the next three years SAMH is aiming to raise £10 million to transform the availability and access to mental health support within communities across Scotland. Their vision is to create a system where people can ask once, get help fast and receive prompt assistance without the need for referrals or complex statutory processes. Their model of support will emphasise non-clinical interventions, enabling individuals with mental health issues to recover and thrive.
In the face of a mental health emergency, SAMH is stepping up so that they can help more people than ever before and build a brighter, more mentally healthy future for the people of Scotland.
For anyone that can't attend the event but wishes to support SAMH I have set up the usual just giving page.
