Saturday 23rd November 2024 would have been Phil's 41st birthday.

Growing up we would normally celebrate birthdays with a few drinks, as friends tend to do. However, it didn't occur that one day this would not be possible, certainly not in our 40s, which now sounds slightly naïve as illness, weather mental or physical, doesn't discriminate when it comes to age.

This date also marks Marine's home game v Needham Market in the National League North. The last game Phil attended was a Marine game back in April, shortly before his untimely passing. The adjoining Bistro was also the venue for his wake, so we thought it would be fitting to use this Saturday's game as an opportunity to build on the awesome fund raising efforts of Tom, who completed the Chester Marathon in under 4 hours (what took you so long!?), and see if we can raise a few more quid for the charity MIND, in memory of Phil.

We are grateful to MIND for allowing us to use their amazing charity as the focus of our sponsorship of this Saturday's game, whilst the amazing staff at Marine have kindly afforded us some space in the matchday programme to promote our fundraising initiative. This will include a QR code via which donations can be made.
