Story
My nephew and I will be undertaking this charity walk for the Royal Marines Charity from the Cenotaph in Central London to Sallenells in France we will be joined in Southampton by another friend who is fluent in French. The French part of the walk is in honour of my uncle who was in 48 commando on D Day. We start the walk on 2nd June 2023 leaving the Cenotaph and walking to Southampton with a couple of overnight stops on the way, catching a ferry over to Caen then walking to what was code named Juno beach,we then go via the town of Langrune which was liberated by 48 commando, then over the Orne River up to Sallenells. We are determined to reach our destination by the 6th June even if I have to crawl part of the way.I will also take the opportunity to visit my uncle's grave to lay a wreath at Ranville cemetery. We do appreciate that money is tight for everyone at the moment but in remembering all Marines that have suffered in all theatre's of conflict recent and passed. Please be as generous as you can and share of our walk and fundraising effort with your family and friends. All monies raised will benefit the Royal Marines Charity and every pound makes a difference to this very worthy cause. Thank you.
