Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association.
My wife Kate was a nurse for 43 years, training at the Bath and West Orthopedic Hospital and then working at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. It was a career that she loved.
She had a son and two grandchildren whom she adored as they did her. She loved to cook and enjoyed craft work - leaded glass making and sewing. Her passion was quilting.
We were married for nearly 22 years. Kate was my Bonnie Lass, as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.
Her diagnosis was a hammer blow to us all. She knew that this story would not have a happy ending, there would be no reprieve from this most cruel of diseases.
She accepted her fate and was stoic to the end. She passed away peacefully at home on the 23rd of January 2024 with me at her side.
With the kind permission of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter Cathedral, it is my intention to plant Crocus bulbs in the Cathedral Green as my tribute to Kate, to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and to increase public awareness of this awful disease.
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. By sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails.
