Story
On May 4th, 2024, I will be participating in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Alder Hey) trek (26 miles in 12 hours) to support Alder Hey Children's Charity. My motivation for this challenge comes from a friend, whose son George has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a thickening of the left and right ventricle of the heart). As a parent myself, I can only imagine the heartache of seeing your child's condition deteriorate over time and feeling helpless to help. George's condition has recently become even more serious, and he will soon undergo a physical stress test to determine if surgical intervention is needed. Without the equipment at Alder Hey, this test would not be possible.
I am doing this trek to give back to Alder Hey Children's Charity who have done so much for my friend's family and many others like them. The hospital and all the staff have been absolutely fantastic with them each and every time they visit. Unfortunately, my friend's daughter Amelia is also at risk of developing this condition as it is genetic. She will be screened regularly to monitor any symptoms.
I am asking for your support in raising funds for Alder Hey Children's Charity. Our target amount is £500 which will go towards providing vital equipment and resources for children like George and Amelia who are battling serious health conditions. Your donation can make a significant difference in their lives.
