My mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer in September 2019.

She lived with her diagnosis for just over 4 and a half years. For the majority of this time, she lived life exactly as she always had.

She went on holidays, walked the dogs, went to coffee shops, volunteered in schools, had days out to the Beach and the Dales and listened to Radio 2.

Unfortunately as her illness progressed, fewer treatments were successful and she very sadly died in March 2024.

In her last few weeks, she was cared for at home by her family.

We were supported by some wonderful charities.

One of these was Marie Curie who provided night nurses to stay overnight with mum, who made sure she was safe and it meant everyone else was able to rest.

It is so important that as many people possible have access to these kind of services, should they need them.

I will be running the London Marathon 2025, in memory of my mum and to help raise money for Marie Curie to continue all the wonderful work they do in helping people with terminal illness.
