Story
Hello, wonderful friends and family!
I’m stepping way out of my comfort zone to take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2025! For someone who only started running recently, the idea of running 13.1 miles feels a bit like asking a cat to swim—uncomfortable and slightly ridiculous.
Now, I’m not just running to prove that I can (though that’s a nice bonus); I’m raising funds for Abigail’s Footsteps, an incredible charity set up by my friends David and Jo.
One of the things Abigail’s does is provides cooling cots for families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a baby and I aim to raise £3,000 to help support these families during their most difficult times.
As I lace up my trainers and contemplate the mysteries of the universe (like, why on earth did I agree to this?), I’m both terrified and excited. I’ve already experienced the full spectrum of emotions: from sheer panic about my training schedule to debating various sock materials (who knew running could be so complicated?!). I even had a mini existential crisis over how to style my hair for the big day—because clearly, how my hair looks is important while gasping for breath haha!
Every donation, no matter how small, will help me reach my goal and make a real difference. If you can spare a few pounds, I promise to run with every ounce of determination (and maybe a sprinkle of chaos) I can muster. Plus, you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you helped me face my fears—one awkward running stride at a time!
Thank you for your support, and wish me luck!
With love and a lot of nervous energy!!
Since 2010, Abigail's Footsteps have worked to improve the way bereaved parents are cared for by hospitals and to better educate midwives on how to care for grieving parents.
Abigail's Footsteps also help by creating sympathetic space for parents in hospitals, to providing much needed equipment for parents to spend longer with their babies whilst also offering specialist baby loss counselling sessions.
Please help us raise vital funds so we can continue to support bereaved families.
Thank you.
