Story

In May 2006, my life changed at the age of 5 when I was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma (grade III) after months of unexplained headaches. The journey that followed involved surgery and 31 days of radiation therapy. Yet, in the face of adversity, I emerged stronger. By August of that year, I defied the odds and returned to 1st grade. Fast forward to today, and I find myself in the second year of medical school!

My battle with cancer has ignited a passion within me—an unwavering desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Now, as a medical student, I am determined to channel my experiences into a force for good. For the past two years, I've been an active participant in LSU HS's Geaux Bald organization, raising funds for the local Shreveport/Bossier cancer community. This year, I've taken on the responsibility of planning and organizing Shave Day, Geaux Bald's grand finale. It's not just an event for me; it's a symbolic act of solidarity with those still fighting the battle.

On Shave Day, which will be held Thursday March 14th, 2024, I plan to cut and donate my hair as a gesture of empathy and support for other cancer patients. Through this act, I hope to inspire a ripple effect of kindness and compassion, paying forward the love and kindness my family and I received during my own treatment.

My goal is to raise $1,000 to contribute to the local cancer community's needs. With your support, I believe we can make a meaningful impact. Your generosity will not only help me reach my target amount but will also make a significant difference in the lives of incredible kids battling cancer.

So, I invite you to join us in making a difference today. Your support will go beyond monetary contributions; it will help provide these amazing kids with an unforgettable experience at Camp Tiger. Together, let's ensure that every child facing a health challenge has the chance to dream and live a life filled with hope and joy.
