Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Charlie and I will be taking part in the Born Survivor 10k challenge to raise money for the incredible East Cheshire Hospice.
In 2015 at just 30 years old, my husband Jon lost his very short battle with brain cancer. In those 3 months, the Hospice and it's staff were our angels - whatever we needed as a family, they provided it; meals, counselling, complimentary therapies, equipment, signposting, hugs... the overwhelming scenario I found myself in while looking after our 1 year old daughter, racing between hospital visits, trying to come to terms with what was happening to us was unbearable. Jon passed away in hospital on the 31st August 2015, and the Hospice continued to provide counselling therapy for me for the next 4 years.
A couple of years after losing Jon, as we were still battling through our grief and learning to live in our new life, my uncle Paul suddenly started experiencing dizzy spells and fainting. Unbelievably, tests revealed he too had a brain tumour, and as a family we found ourselves back in the care of the incredible team at East Cheshire Hospice. In his final days they made Paul comfortable in one of their beautiful rooms, with a view of the gardens, and even helped us to bring in his beloved dog Oscar to say goodbye. Paul passed away in June 2019.
Words will never be able to express our gratitude to East Cheshire Hospice, their staff are the most amazing people I've ever met, who do everything they can to help you navigate the hardest times of your lives. The Hospice itself is funded mostly through donations and fundraising, so Charlie and I would love to raise as much money as we can for them. Please donate whatever you are able to, every penny really does make a difference.
