Our amazing childrens transplant team, the Evelina London VIPs, are taking part in the national Transplant Games! Donations will be allocated to the Paediatric Transplant Fund, and will support the Evelina Transplant Games team.

Story

The Evelina London VIPs are our children's transplant sports team. The team is comprised of children who received a kidney transplant and who are under the long term care of the transplant team at Evelina London Children's Hospital.

We are known as the VIPs (Very important people, patients and penguins!) as our transplant clinic is in the penguin zone of our hospital!

A kidney transplant is a lifelong treatment, not the cure many people think! Having a child with a significant health condition impacts everyone in the family and our annual trip to compete at the British Transplant Games is about encouraging fitness in our young patients. Importantly it is our way of facilitating out of hospital support "Support through Sport" not only for the child with a transplant, but their brothers and sisters and parents.

I have a few planned fundraising events this year:

1. Row from Brighton to Dieppe in May. This is 114km which works out to be 6000 meters per day.

2. 11th June and 12th June in a team of 3 cycle from Brighton to John O’Groats in 1183km

3. 14th June and 15th June Cycle the new forest gravel trail which is 101km with 2960ft of climbing

4. Then another event is the Organ Donor Run which will take place during the British Transplant Games on Saturday 3rd August. Around 150 of us VIPs will run/walk/scoot the 3/5km track to thank Organ Donors while raising the need for continued organ donation while raising much needed money to make this event possible!

5. 13 September-15th September. Walking Derbyshire Three Peaks challenge.

6. Rest

Every penny makes a difference so thank you in advance
