In July, a team of 40 operational firefighters, from across all departments in Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, will be competing in the British Firefighter Challenge.
The competition, known as the toughest 6 minutes in firefighter sports, will see each member of our team undertake individual and relay races, wearing full firefighting protective equipment, whilst carrying a breathing apparatus set on their backs. The races involve extremely arduous physical tasks, replicating the actions that our firefighters carry out on the frontline every day. Make no mistake, the intensity of this competition rivals many high level sports, requiring physical fitness, endurance, mental toughness and a high level of training and dedication to complete the course within the time cap.
We are as a team, trying to raise as much money as possible for the Firefighters Charity, in order to support the physical and mental rehabilitation of those within our wider community who need support.
Please support your firefighters and help us reach our target. Thankyou.
