Update
Sorry everyone I picked up a injury and had to retire from the challenge. Ill finish the route off as soon as I am recovered. Thank you to everyone who believed in me and I'm sorry I couldn't deliver on this occasion. We have still raised vital funds for a great charity ❤️
This July, I will be running the entire 200-mile Greater Manchester Ringway route in one go, just me, my rucksack and whatever I can buy to sustain myself along the way.
The GM Ringway is a circular walking trail that spans all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, connecting green spaces, canals, rivers, parks, and beautiful countryside. The route is divided into 20 sections, making it accessible for anyone who wants to explore it in smaller stages, with each section conveniently ending near public transport links. You can find out more about the route at: https://www.gmringway.org/
Since my mum passed away from COPD in 2011, I have wanted to raise money for a charity dedicated to improving lung health. The British Lung Foundation merged with Asthma UK in 2020, which is why I have chosen to support Asthma + Lung UK for this challenge.
I've always believed that if I'm asking people to donate to a charity, I should earn those donations by taking on a genuinely difficult challenge. This certainly qualifies.
Although I have many years of ultra-running experience, I have never attempted a continuous 200-mile run before. It will be by far the biggest physical and mental challenge I have ever undertaken, and it feels like the perfect opportunity to raise money for a cause that means a great deal to me.
During the challenge, I will have a live tracker so you'll be able to follow my progress in real time. I'll share the tracking link closer to the start date.

If you're local and fancy joining me for part of the route, you'd be very welcome. I'll have only limited support, so any company and encouragement along the way would be hugely appreciated. My plan is to be largely self-supported, using shops and facilities along the route to keep myself fuelled and moving.
Thank you for your support, and wish me luck!
Update: I'll be starting at 8:00am on Monday 13th July from near the March Hare in Cheadle. Tracker will be available nearer the time!
About Asthma.+ Lung UK
1 in 5 of us will develop a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute.
I'm fundraising for Asthma + Lung UK. They’re the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
Just £24 could support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
