Story
You may already know that Glu Recruit is taking part in The Master Cutler’s Challenge 2023. This year’s challenge is supporting an incredible charity, Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust.
Wentworth Woodhouse is one of the core pillars in South Yorkshire providing community and educational programmes and delivering training in dedicated skills such as entrepreneurship, conservation, heritage, digital and hospitality.
It is not only about the building but supports a wide range of people and communities in low-income households, including ethnic and minority interests and disability groups to help enrich their lives with cultural activities.
The Glu Recruit team have been scratching their heads to come up with ways to raise as much money as possible.
With King Charles’ Coronation on the horizon, we thought it would be a great idea (and good for our staff’s fitness) to cycle from Wentworth Woodhouse to Buckingham Palace to see the new King – a whopping 170 miles.
After we discovered that several of our staff failed their cycling proficiency tests at school and we realised our Managing Director Rob Shaw’s head was too big for a helmet, we’ve decided to use exercise bikes in the office to cover the distance.
We will be cranking up the air conditioning and dowsing our highly motivated staff with water to replicate the real-life weather conditions for the route!
We’ll be starting our trek on the 15th of May and will hopefully still be breathing to announce our arrival at the Palace on the 19th of May.
We will be updating all of you lovely people as we reach key checkpoints on the way, so stay tuned!
Donations would be hugely appreciated and will keep our staff highly motivated.
