Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
We have chosen Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) as the focus of our fundraising efforts for the next 12 months. During this time we will be undertaking various challenges and activities in aid of the charity and we would really appreciate your support.
This cause is close to our hearts, especially for one member of the team here at GJS Dillon who says:
‘I had reason to be involved in an incident where the Air Ambulance was called out. The crew were amazing and got involved with the patient’s care, along with the NHS ambulance crew, even though the Air Ambulance was not ultimately utilised.
Their aftercare is also second-to-none. When I felt ready – six months down the line – I was given the opportunity to understand exactly what had happened that day. A Patient Liaison Nurse took me through every step from the moment the emergency services were called, until the final moments. Unfortunately, in my case, the outcome was not what we had hoped for, but I know that they did everything they possibly could to sustain life’.
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is responsible for funding and operating three air ambulance helicopters and two critical care cars serving the communities of six Midlands counties: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire. This constitutes the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK. The charity also provides secondary cover to surrounding areas, such as Warwickshire and Mid Wales.
Each year it costs in excess of £10 million to maintain the three aircraft and the provision of a lifesaving service. Each air ambulance mission costs an average of £2,950. The charity does not receive funding from the Government so relies entirely on the support and generosity of local people and businesses.
